Download not Possible

Tobias Zimmerlin 11 years ago updated by Lucky Rathod 8 years ago 2

Hello,

I'm sorry I have to contact you.

But I'm not able to test your GameDraw which I really would like to test.

Everytime I try to download in Asset Store (Which is extreeeemly slow and freezes unity) I get an Unity crash.

Half of GameDraw is installed seems like it. But not the graphics.

Would be nice if you could just send me the free package or something.

I hope you can help me,

thanks

optimize: create multiple game objects with one texture atlas

Matthias Wutschke 10 years ago updated by GameDraw 10 years ago 0

Hi,

i just started with gamedraw. im using Unity 4.2 indy and the recent mxd suite (pro).

I want to create one atlas for several meshes but dont want to combine the meshes to one gameobject. After watching the optimization tutorial i tried several methods but it doesent work as i expected it.

The only workflow i came up with is:

- select the game objects > optimize combine (multiple materials)

- select the combined game objects > optimize combine > advanced

- it creates the UVs and the atlas but i then i have to manually set the atlas back to all the material slots.

- then i have to save the object with gamedraw (otherwise the uvs are all overlapping again when i open gamedraw modelling mode)

- then i have to use the saved object to detach all the single objects with gamedraw modelling

This results in separate objects with one texture atlas and one drawcall.

But this is very time consuming and buggy (there are several exceptions thrown all the way).

Is there an easier solution?

Thanks,

Matthias

Each of GameDraw's functionality is being revamped thus the optimization is also getting revamped as well, hopefully the upcoming update will do the job.

How do I export models?

cmx2us 10 years ago 0
I have multiple pieces (like a cylinder, a sphere, and a cube) that, together, make up a model. I can't export all of them together because they're not one object. If i collect two of the three pieces and group them under one piece, than when I export it, when imported it is only the piece that all of the other pieces were grouped under.

How do I combine/join all of the separate pieces of a model into one, in order to export the entire model?

MXD Bundle

DFT Games 11 years ago updated by GameDraw 11 years ago 2
Hi,
First off: great work! :) Then my question... I've got your MXD Bundle (GameDraw+BooleanRT+Lightmap Manager 2) but I see that only GameDraw seems to exist now and has been updated recently while the bundle has not: shall I worry? Can you please shed some light?

Answer

We stopped selling the other tools but not support and doing improvements so don't worry, we want to add more focus on GameDraw so that we make it a fantastic tool, the bundle will be updated whenever GameDraw gets an update, the last update for GameDraw was only asset store images update and not actual content update so no need to worry ;)

extruding a t-intersection?

Terry Morgan 11 years ago updated by GameDraw 11 years ago 4

Hi, I'm trying to extrude a t intersection off this arch hallway, I used edge

splitting but the lightmap is ugly, polys aren't arranged properly.

Is there another way to do this?

you can generate proper lightmaps from the GameDraw menu-> Lightmaps->Generate Lightmap UVs

if you are doing this and the issue still existing with lightmaps then we might need to take a look it at so you might want to send us the file and we will check what is happening, also if possible can you send a video recording of the steps you are taking so we can take a deeper look at it and propose a better way of doing it.

GameDraw and UVs

Radu Mitroi 11 years ago updated by GameDraw 11 years ago 0

Hi, i am using Gamedraw to unwrap and texture my models inside Unity. After i finish the texture inside Photoshop i import it in Unity and apply it to my model. Everything works perfectly, but when i build the game the texture doesn't work properly, it's like i didn't unwrap the model.

you need to save your model or unity will delete any objects floating in the memory and not persistent to your hard drive.

Good tool but I have some problems.

Mariusz Kowalczyk 11 years ago updated by GameDraw 11 years ago 18

Hello. Very nice tool, much better than ProBuilder. I am only using it for like 15 minutes now and looks like there are some problems with UV Editing on Mac (didn't test on the Windows).

I will try to explain what the problem is. So I am creating a basic cube shape, making a copy by using Add To List option, then modifying it a bit and then adding a material. So far so good. Then I am going to Edit UVs option. Now, the options from the menu are not working. The only way to make them work is by switching back to Edit Vertices (or edges, or faces or elements), selecting the vertices I want to modify and then going back to Edit UVs. I don't know if this is how it should work, probably yes so it's not a problem at all.

The real problem is this: When I want to use the following options: Rotate UV, Translate UV, Scale UV it's not possible to write the value I want, the only way to change the value is by scrolling with the mouse click. But the worst part of this is that after changing the value with the mouse click, the value visible in the field is being reseted to the default value. So even though the real Scale UV on the model is 2, I see 1 in the GUI field all the time (only during the click scrolling I can see the real value, after I release the click it is reseted in the window, on the model I can see that the UV Scale is correct though).

I would like to be able to type for example: 2.5, press enter and change values that way. Is this a bug or maybe this is how it should work? If it's not a bug, please consider changing it to the way I described, because now it's really hard to work with how it is.

The other weird things I have noticed is this: when I go to the UV Editor (the one with the white grid), the grid is blinking all the time which is really annoying :D

If I will find more bugs I will let you know :)

Anyway nice tool :)

Thanks for reporting these issues :) much appreciated and please keep us updated of any issues you encounter

Regarding the UV editing, just untoggle the Instant update checkbox and you will be able to set values :D

Hope this helps out

an overview for Mobile?

Gunhi 11 years ago updated by Bahaa 11 years ago 1

I'm going to use GameDraw as my main Modelling tool instead of Maya for most of common models.

I had a look on Sci-Fi levels on the asset stores, they both have very high draw calls. So, does GameDraw support mobiles? or do you have any tutorial on combine all individual texture on a scene into one and still keep the UV in right position?

Additionally, GameDraw seems to be not ready for MAC yet. Notice me when it's ready to use on MAC and I will purchase it.

How to tile UV's

James Hartley 11 years ago updated by GameDraw 11 years ago 0

Hey I was wondering if its possible to have my UV texture tile instead of stretch when I scale the object? I'm making a sidescrolling platformer and I need to be able to have my floor UV textured because it consists of a dirt-looking base with grass ontop coming over the sides a little bit. but when I scale it, the whole texture stretches.

We are adding this in the next update, it is a total rewrite of the system so a lot of good stuff coming on the way!
