How to uninstall GameDraw to do a fresh install?

Marco Otte 10 years ago updated by Talisman Skulls 9 years ago 11
Hi,
I'm running into some serious lag problems because of GameDraw on my Mac (both Unity Pro and GameDraw are the latest versions).
After about 30-45min work, the entire computer freezes for about 30s. There are no other programs running, clean reboot, etc. Running a Unity project without the MXD Bundle - GameDraw installed does not show this problem.
So I figured I uninstall the entire Bundle and reinstall it. But...
I've deleted the files from my project, but I still see the GameDraw menu. Am I missing something that needs to be deleted for a full uninstall of GameDraw?

By the way, I love GameDraw even with the current bugs!

Marco

* To remove GameDraw manager then use the package in the below post
http://forum.unity3d.com/threads/122884-GameDraw-3D-modeling-for-Unity-RELEASED/page3?p=940719&viewfull=1#post940719

Thanks for your nice words and really sorry for the late reply! we will have a new version soon, it took some extra time but for sure will be worth it :D

You should be fine removing the folders of GameDraw under:
plugins/Editor
Plugins/GameDraw

WRONG!

Deleting just the .dll files in the plugins folder and plugins/Editor folder as well as deleting the Gamedraw folder in plugins, DOES NOT effectively uninstall GameDraw, there still seems to be some kind of GameDraw Manager Object which we are not sure is either a prefab or a Scene Game Object because it cannot be found in the hierarchy or the Assets folder.

We also seem to be getting this error:

NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object
UnityEditor.SceneView.SetupCamera () (at C:/BuildAgent/work/d3d49558e4d408f4/Editor/Mono/SceneView/SceneView.cs:1204)
UnityEditor.SceneView.OnGUI () (at C:/BuildAgent/work/d3d49558e4d408f4/Editor/Mono/SceneView/SceneView.cs:741)
System.Reflection.MonoMethod.Invoke (System.Object obj, BindingFlags invokeAttr, System.Reflection.Binder binder, System.Object[] parameters, System.Globalization.CultureInfo culture) (at /Users/builduser/buildslave/monoAndRuntimeClassLibs/build/mcs/class/corlib/System.Reflection/MonoMethod.cs:222)

and the scene view sometimes freezes (also it seems to be causing conflict with PlayEditor another Unity plugin).

Frankly, this is unacceptable, if there is some kind of specific manner in uninstalling GameDraw it should be made clear and be present in some kind of documentation. Please clarify a proper method of uninstalling GameDraw ASAP, as it is holding our team back in production and something this basic shouldnt even be an issue.

Thanks in advance

Tiaan
Also it seems that Meshes that are a result of Boolean operations dont have any tangents calculated or added so it causes conflicts with most shaders.
I have the same problem here! After installing GameDraw it is no proper way to uninstall it. And I have the same error "The referenced script on this Behaviour is missing!", when I'm double click it shows "GameDrawManager" prefab a fantom object, that cannot be founded nowhere! All this stuff is seems to conflict with our build and crashing randomly when loading game level. PLEASE FIX IT  !A S A P! It's really ruing our work here(((
Looks great but its problematic. I just tried it and there is no simple quick uninstall option for it.

It also does not allow you to "disable it" when working on a project. Anything with a mesh it Auto launches.

You have to use the "reveal Hidden Cache" so you can SEE then delete the folder from the Assets. Then you have to manually go into Plug-In folder and delete everything there with its Editor, and sub-files. There is no simple "uninstall."

Then you have to make sure that when you close the project (The Unity Engine itself), not to Save anything. Unity will ask you to save the project which can cause an incomplete removal.

Some have become so frustrated with it that they have thrown out their entire projects having to start everything from scratch just to remove it from the main menu bar (File, Edit, Assets, Game Objects, etc).

If you follow the instruction I gave (including not saving), where you were at with the project before installing it, will clear it out and not bother you again. Its better to use some other rendering software that does not plug into Unity like Sketchup, Blender, etc. its easy to convert the DAE. Files to FBX which Unity prefers, also using the Autodesk converter to change OBJ, DAE and other formats to FBX.

Just be sure to keep poly's and such under 65,000 or the mesh will be broken into parts by Unity's own defaults.
Same issue as other users. Having so much trouble trying to get this off of my machine. Only interferes with other plugins and such. NEED to uninstall. How does one even go about creating something that can't be removed? SUSPECT
Check the below post, the package will help you remove GameDraw

http://forum.unity3d.com/threads/122884-GameDraw-3...
Um, sorry GameDraw but WRONG again.

That ClearCache scipt does absolutely nothing for this problem, I know theoretically it is SUPPOSED to find all the procedurally generated GameDrawManager objects that are created in the scen when playing, but it doesnt even do this one thing that it is programmed to do.

So please a proper, real fix would be greatly appreciated.
If you haven't fixed it yet there is a problem if you saved a project after installing GameDraw .

If you saved the project when closing after using the ClearCache only reveals the hidden folders, (Which to me is a bit of a questionable thing to say the least if its a Plug-In and sounds sketchy). You have to delete the folder GameDraw when the Cache makes it visible in Assets.

If you did not delete the folder saying GameDraw in the Assets panel first then remove it from the Plug-In folder in the projects, it will bug things up. You have to NOT SAVE a project or any models you barely managed to produce with it) prior to its install when closing out Unity. That also means throwing out any models made with it in the scene as they are linked to the GameDraw program itself so after removal the models will give you errors.

So basically whatever project you used it in is toast. That's why so many have thrown out entire projects. But you do not need to Uninstall and Reinstall Unity itself.

When you start a New project after ripping GameDraw out manually from the Plug-In folder it will no longer be in the main menu. Drop a cube or something in a scene from GameObject and select it. if nothing happens it is gone. But you Absolutely Have to remove it from the Plug-In folder before starting Unity back up or it won't go away.

+1
how install gamedraw for unity 3D
first off the Cache thing only shows the GameDraw folder in the Assets. It loads as a hidden file.

You have to do a manual removal.  Here is what I did. ( I am using Unity 4.6 Free).

1) Fire up Unity3D. Use this link to make the GameDraw asset file appear in the Assets.

View attachment $GameDrawCacheCleaner.unitypackage. This allows you to see the GameDraw folder in the Assets. Delete that first.

2) Go into the projects folder and search for Plug-In. Then find all the files related to GameDraw and delete all the files for Game Draw in the Plug-In folder and trash them. Then close Unity making sure there is no folder in the Assets either.

Unity will ask you to save the scene. Don't. Just close without saving.

Turn Unity back on. Start the project back up.

go to GameObjects and drop a cube or something then if you select the object and nothing happens GameDraw is gone.  This keeps you from throwing the whole project away.

The second test is create a New Scene. if GameDraw does not appear again up top with the main menu (File, Edit, Assets, etc. It is gone.
